On December 10, Dr. Patricia Flor, the German Ambassador to China, and her delegation visited Qingdao Sino-German Ecopark. Gao Shanwu, Deputy Secretary of Working Committee of Qingdao West Coast New Area, Director of the Administrative Committee of Qingdao Free Trade Zone, and Director of the Administrative Committee of Qingdao Sino-German Ecopark, met with Dr. Patricia Flor and her delegation. The meeting was also attended by Ding Anhui, Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Qingdao Municipal People’s Government; Zhang Yunqing, Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of Qingdao Sino-German Ecopark; and officials from Foreign Affairs Office of Shandong Provincial People’s Government, Foreign Affairs Office of Qingdao Municipal People’s Government, and relevant departments of Qingdao Free Trade Zone.
Gao Shanwu stated that since its establishment, Qingdao Sino-German Ecopark had carried out meaningful explorations in green, low-carbon, and sustainable development, in line with the provisions of the Sino-German bilateral memorandum of understanding. The park has achieved significant progress and has been expected to play a greater role in demonstrating and guiding Sino-German cooperation in green and low-carbon development.
Dr. Patricia Flor praised the outstanding achievements of Qingdao Sino-German Ecopark. She noted that the park had achieved an effective balance between production, ecology, and living, making it a beacon project in the field of green and ecological development. She pledged continued strong support for the park’s future development.
Qingdao Sino-German Ecopark was officially established in July 2010 under the witness of China premier Wen Jiabao and German chancellor Angela Merkel, and began construction in December 2011. As a bilateral cooperation demonstration zone aimed at sustainable development, the park adopted German DGNB and PHI system, and won TÜV NORD certification for its ecological indicator system. To date, the park has completed construction of green buildings with approximately 9.1 million ㎡. The park’s achievements in green development had been recognized globally, with its experience selected in Corporate Climate Action Cases at COP27, Global Guidelines for Green and Thriving Neighbourhoods published by C40 Climate Leadership Group as well as its global case library. The park has served as a model project for Sino-German cooperation in green and low-carbon development.
